Her Forbidden Hero by Laura Kaye

Blurb (via Goodreads):

She's always been off-limits...
Former Army Special Forces Sgt. Marco Vieri has never thought of Alyssa Scott as more than his best friend's little sister, but her return home changes that...and challenges him to keep his war-borne demons at bay. Marco's not the same person he was back when he protected Alyssa from her abusive father, and he's not about to let her see the mess he's become.
...but now she's all grown up.
When Alyssa takes a job at the bar where Marco works, her carefree smiles wreak havoc on his resolve to bury his feelings. How can he protect her when he can't stop thinking about her in his bed? But Alyssa's not looking for protection—not anymore. Now that she's back in his life, she’s determined to heal her forbidden hero, one touch at a time...

In a nut shell:

Laura Kaye has told this “my brother’s best friend story” in an adult world with true, relatable characters. You will feel for Aly and Marco; you will feel their pain, pleasure, happiness, and turmoil jump right off the page at you.

My Rating: 4/5

Read in 1 day… um yea – so I couldn't stop reading this book. It is short and good. I was so emotional while reading this – from really happy to crying to really pissed to disbelief – seriously I was all over the place! I loved Alyssa and Marco! Oh Marco – you will love him too! I mean come on, seriously, you know you love a messed up guy who is good but puts off bad boy vibes to keep people at bay just as much as I do! I was hooked on this story from the beginning – I like Aly right away and really felt concerned about her and what was happening to her. I love the connection that is there between Brady, Aly and Marco. I love the back-story we are given; it totally makes Marco’s side understandable and believable. Since I can’t say much else without getting specific to the story I want to share some of my favorite lines from this book! I’m a fan of snarky and smart-ass comments… so that’s what most of these are; Enjoy!
“The last time she’d seen him, he’d been on leave between deployments and he’d been wearing camouflage – “drop dead sexy” was the only way to describe him in uniform. Now his brown hair was longer and messy on top, as if he’d run his fingers through it, but he still looked every bit the solider he’d been.”
“Wasn't that the sour cherry on his shit sundae?”
“Nearly dizzy from his proximity, his dazzling grin, and the clean male scent of his skin, Alyssa struggled to reply. “It’s great to see you, Marco,” she finally managed. God, he was even more gorgeous than she remembered.”
“He pulled the door shut and walked into the kitchen. Bracing his hands on the counter, he stared out the window at the mountain. Alyssa Scott was in his house. In his bedroom. Maybe sitting on his bed right now. His dick twitched at the thought. Treacherous bastard.”
“After all, he’d been in the United States Army Special Forces, fuck you very much. You might take the man out of the SF, but you couldn't take the SF out of the man. He’d been up against some of the world’s meanest and toughest. So, goddamn straight he could work his way around one young woman.”
Between the awesome blurb and my gushing you have to be convinced that you need to pick up a copy of this book, right?! Ok, so once you read it come back and let me know what you think down there in the comments!!
