Not the Marrying Kind by Nicola Marsh
Blurb:
Who said marriage had to be convenient?
LA party planner Poppy Collins has kept her
secret side business – planning divorce parties as the Divorce Diva – a close
secret, but keeping her business afloat is proving tougher by the day. When her
sister’s divorce party gives Poppy the opportunity to save the day and boost
her business, Poppy approaches Vegas golden boy Beck Blackwood for help. But
this time, she’s about to get way more than she bargained for…
Beck knows Poppy’s secret, and he’s not afraid
to use it to get exactly what he wants – a wife. With his reputation and
business expansion plans on the line, the only way he can repair the damage is
by getting hitched, and fast. And if blackmail is the only way to get Poppy to
the altar, then so be it…
But they’re in the city of high stakes, and
Poppy has a few aces up her sleeve. Now it’s time to find out if they’re
playing to win… or if they’re playing for keeps.

Ok
– first off I just have to say I love the names of these characters!! Beck & Poppy – so fantastic! I absolutely loved this book!! It is seriously funny as shit and sexy as
hell! Don’t believe me… well take a look
at these quotes!
Funny as Shit
“’Silk.’
‘What?’
‘Bet
The Hottie favors silk lingerie.’ Ashlee
tapped her bottom lip, pondering. ‘Maybe
lace?’
Annoyed
by the thought of wearing anything remotely sexy near Beck Blackwood, Poppy
waved Ashlee away. ‘Haven’t you go work
to do?’
‘Yeah,
but bet it’s not half as fun as your work tonight.’ Ashlee blew her a kiss as she headed for the
door. ‘And here’s another tip. When in Vegas, always bet on black.’
‘I’m
not gambling –‘
‘Black
silk, satin, lace, whatever. LBD,
push-up bra, stockings, you’ll have him throwing the big bucks at you.’
‘Dressed
like that, it won’t be for my partly planning skills,’ Poppy muttered, earning
a grin from Ashlee.
(sorry that one is really long, but you needed it all to get
the humor there with the girl talk)
Sexy as Hell
“She
surged upward, plastering her mouth to his, her hands desperate as they plucked
at his dress shirt. Unable to find
purchase, she slid her fingers between the cotton and ripped, the buttons
pinging onto the wooden floorboards.”
Sweet like the best fudge EVER
“…his
eyes misted over and he blinked. ‘You
made me feel …’ ”
(Ok that one isn’t a full quote, but I can’t put anything
else there b/c it will give away too much)
Ok now that I’ve wet your whistle… Bwahahahahahaha… back to my review!
The
back and forth between the two MCs is amazing.
I love seeing inside each character through the changing POVs – that’s
my favorite part about Nicola’s writing style in this book!
Now
for some reason I can only see Gerard Butler as Beck and I keep seeing Poppy
Montgomery as Poppy… not really sure why
other than her name, but you know, it is what it is… this is the picture I have
in my head, only Poppy’s hair is Chestnut colored:

Sooooo…
where was I? Sorry I am distracted by GB
there looking all sexy and shit **picking up jaw of desk and wiping drool away**
nope not helping… I’m going to have to take the photos out and put them back in
after I’m done with the review – one sec while I do that!
**2
minutes later**
Ok
I’m back now… woo, I could look at him all day long!
So
I read this book in like 5 or 6 hours – It was super-fast and super easy to
read. The flow of this is great – I was never lost
and never confused. Most of that I think
is accomplished through the switching POV, which really impressed me b/c this
is really hard to do and to do it well is doubly hard! Nice job Nicola! **round of applause**
Shit
I’m just super goober today aren’t I – LOL!
Anyway – I don’t really know what else to say about this book other than
GO GET IT AND READ IT! I have a hard
time talking about the story within books because I don’t want to spoil
anything for you all before you read it.
Buuuuuut since I can’t shut my damn mouth, let’s keep going, just a
little! No spoils, I don’t think… I
loved the ending, as usual =) But for this book I loved the middle part the
best! I know right, that’s so weird for
me!! I usually hate the back and forth
and angst that the middle part brings – this one, I really loved the back and
forth and the ups and downs of this story!
I loved loved loved the connection that is there from the beginning
between Beck and Poppy – it is perfect!
I love the reason Beck chooses Poppy.
I love his development through the story and the stuff we see him go
through!
Ok – that’s it… I just loved it! Seriously – go get it and come back and dish with me!!
yep, that's what I have for you today, laters!
