My Review:

I really enjoyed this book.  I loved The Pyxis and was eagerly awaiting this book and I was not disappointed.  You all know how I get when I am excited... I am going to try really hard not to bounce around and be incoherent, but I'm making no promises! =)
Now... Where do I start?!  I love these characters.  I love Mason - COMPLETELY!  I also love to hate love triangles!  Ok - enough about that...  I am afraid I am going to spoil this for you all so I don't really want to say too much!  I am too excited about the book.  I think I'm going to have to come back later when I can think rationally about this book and EVERYTHING that happens in it!  It is so full of events and action and OMG!!  You all are going to love it so much!
That's all I'm telling you... because like I said - I don't want to spoil it for you!
Go read it - RIGHT NOW - what are you waiting on?!

Excerpt from Alight: The Peril (Pyxis Series Book 2) by K.C. Neal

In this excerpt, Corinne and Mason get their first glimpse of an enemy that’s much more powerful than they’d realized.

“I seriously need to get a grip on my thought projection,” I said.
Mason grinned and eased his arm around my shoulders. “Oh, I don’t know. I’m kind of digging all this access to your leaky brain.”
“Jerk,” I said, and I pushed his shoulder. He stumbled half a step sideways and laughed, a deep rumble in his chest. I bit my lips to hide a smile.
Mason’s laughter died mid-chuckle, and he halted with an abrupt scrape of his Chuck Taylors against the sidewalk. As I turned to ask him why he stopped, he clamped his hands against his temples and bent at the waist.
“What’s wrong?” I grabbed his forearm and leaned over next to him to peer into his eyes, but his eyelids squeezed shut, and his face twisted in pain. What is it?
He groaned and swayed. My heart punched a fear-driven tempo in my chest, and I clasped his shoulders, trying to steady him.
Then, everything around us went dark. My gaze shot to the sky. All I saw was a swath of stars. My feet shifted and I realized the ground beneath me had some give to it—sand?—just as Mason called out in pain and fell to his knees.
“She’s in my mind,” he said through clenched teeth.
“Who?!” I squinted in the dim light, trying to make out anything around us. Was that a picnic table?
Fear and confusion gripped my stomach as realization hit: we stood on the beach at the cove. How could this be?
I blinked, and when I opened my eyes, sunlight streamed over me with painful intensity. I shielded my face against the sudden brightness and looked down, trying to let my eyes adjust.
Concrete. I’d returned to the sidewalk, Mason on his knees at my feet. I knelt next to him. He drew a couple of ragged breaths and his eyes met mine.
“What happened?” My voice trembled.
“She was in there. . . . She blocked you out of my mind.” Mason shuddered and then straightened slowly. I stood up with him.
“I did feel like I lost you.” I licked my dry lips. “And I don’t know how, but we were at the cove for a few seconds.”
Mason closed his eyes for a second and shook his head. “Yeah, I saw the change. Like we blinked into a different dimension.”
“But who did that to you?”
“Green eyes . . . from my dreams.” He scrubbed one hand through his hair.
“Harriet.” I barely managed to choke out the name. “It had to be.”

Review | Playing at Love by Ophelia London

Sooooooooo I really likes this book!  You totally need to check it out!
It is an adult book but it is clean because of the publisher; it's a Bliss imprint from Entangled.
It's a nice real life contemporary romance.  Ok so here we go!

Show choir teacher Tess Johansson loves three things: music, her job, and sharing that passion with her students. But when a school budget crisis forces funding to be pulled from either the sports or music programs, she finds herself going head to head with Jack, the gorgeous new football coach who broke her heart fifteen years ago.

Jack Marshall wants two things: to be closer to his young daughter and to make his mark as a football coach. Taking the new job, with the promise that he’d have time to build a solid team, gave him both. But now he must win the season with a group of boys who aren't anywhere near ready or he’ll lose everything he’s worked so hard for. Being pitted against Tess, the summer love he never forgot, is like being fourth and long with only seconds on the clock.

On opposing sides of a fierce battle and with everything at stake, Tess and Jack find themselves torn between doing what it takes to win and doing what it takes to be together.

My Review

So..... I really really liked this book!  I am usually a little iffy about the Bliss books, but I always like them... I don't know why but I must get amnesia every time I pick a new one up.  I am always iffy because I know they don't  have the "steamy sexy stuff" in them.  Don't get me wrong - they are AWESOME and always full of steaminess just not the normal stuff I'm used to really loving from Entangled.  Ok... now that I've kind of confused everyone with my ramblings - but - I will say this - this book DOES NOT NEED the extra explicit stuff that I classify as Adult, if you know what I mean.  **wink, wink**
I completely LOVED this book.  The story was so good - characters are amazing - setting is perfect.  I think I loved this because of the history between Tess and Jack.  I loved the story there - I always love a second chance romance!  Don't hate me... but it reminds me of an adult version of Glee, kind of...  It isn't centered around the glee club (show choir) completely - it's about their teacher, but you meet a few kids.  And they totally add tot he story.  My favorite parts of the story were in the pool and at Tess's apartment   LOVED IT!
I don't have a song for you for this book... I know - unusual right?!  Since this had so much music in it anyway, I couldn't really hear anything specific the whole way through.
Anyway... final words - check out this book, I think you'll like it.  It is a perfect classic contemporary romance story.  <3

My Thoughts:

So my thoughts on this book... well first let me start with the cover.  Is that not one of the sexiest female leads pictured on a cover?!  I love it!!  It totally fits the picture I have in my head of Grace.
Second - the tag line shown on the cover... WOW - LOVE IT!
Next - I love Grace!  I love her loyalty, her tenacity, her spunk, but I hate that she lies to herself through most of the book. I think I really hated that because we all do it... of course not about the same things but we all lie to ourselves about something.
I loved seeing Grace grow and learn and open up to live her life.  I loved the chemistry that was always present between Grace and Ethan - LOVE IT!  Ethan is like the perfect compliment to Grace - reckless and a risk taker.  Of course it doesn't hurt that Ethan is completely gorgeous, right...  that never hurts anyone =)
The picture in my head of Ethan is much better than what's on this cover, but that's ok - the picture you need is Grace not Ethan.  Grace is awesome - I think you all will really like her.  I am not really into politics & you don't have to be to really enjoy this book - obviously.  I think it is great that this book released during an election time =) Nice planning by the Marketing Team at Indulgence!

Anyway... I think you should definitely check out this book - I think you'll enjoy it.

Here's a little after thought for you all as well.
Now... I am on a Taylor Swift kick her lately and her new album just dropped - have you heard it yet?  Well the title track - Red - is perfect for this book.  The sentiment behind it is so perfect - Taylor Swift explains it as the emotions of the relationship are extreme - love, anger, intense passion, - the color red encompasses it all.  Seriously - listen to the song - here's a performance from last night on CBS's The Late Show.  I'm working off of my phone and my work PC so I can't embed the video right now... but click on this link and I'll embed the video when I get home from work tonight.

I am so pissed!

What is wrong with people?!

I am so ANGRY & PISSED right now!  Why do people think it is ok to steal from authors?!  I do not understand...  And since this is mine I'm going to voice my opinion here.

WHY?  Please some one explain to me why!?  I am so angry right now...
eBooks are not expensive - which is why I DO NOT UNDERSTAND!  Please pay the couple of bucks to purchase the book from a real bookseller!  I have heard all kinds of excuses - my favorite... and I mean that as sarcastically as possible - is I didn't know it was an illegal copy.  REALLY?! I call BS on that every single time.  Sharing sites are so bogus - unless you are sharing the book through the place you BOUGHT it from (i.e. Amazon or B&N) it's illegal...  if you aren't sure if a book is legit - email the author or the publisher and ask.  It isn't rocket science here folks... use some common sense and find out if a site is legit BEFORE you use it and steal from authors...

Are you wondering what brought this on today?

Well if you follow me on Twitter you already know and saw me ranting about Shannon Dermott's situation regarding her Cambion Series books and illegal downloads.  I'm so sad for Shannon and so disappointed in the people who took her book illegally!

I just don't understand why in today's world - where EVERYONE knows where you can get a legit copy of an eBook - why do people continue to do this?!

Beg for Mercy is $0.99

Waiting for Mercy is $3.99

No Mercy is $0.99

COME ON!!  My morning coffee costs more than that.

Please buy these books and all your books legitimately!

You all know how much I love these books and how much I adore Shannon...
this is heartbreaking for me this afternoon.

Plain and Simple.

now... I know I asked above for explanation .. I don't really want one - so please don't post one -

My Thoughts:

So... first off - the cover - LOVE IT!  After you read the story you will love it so much more! =)

Moving on... these characters - they have a really nice depth to them.  I really liked the conflict shown between Ruby and Christo.  I loved that they had a past that neither really wanted to face or talk about or even face within themselves.  I thought how they were brought together again after a decade was sad but really good.  It was all very believable and made the rest of the story really work well.  The pace was ok - There was a lot of information about what happened in the past, which was necessary, but you know me... I'm special and want to know all that stuff but I really want all of it happen right away.

When these two get together - albeit really odd circumstances but - it was amazing!  They are so perfect for each other and once they come back together physically you can totally see it.

I loved Ruby's pigheadedness regarding her baby and the same quality shown in Christo was nice but OMG I wanted to hit him at the doctor's office.  SERIOUSLY - just wanted to hit him.  I obviously totally loved and sympathized with Ruby... up until the very end!  I really related to her.

Anyway... that's about all I really have to say - but I really enjoyed this book and I really enjoyed the characters in it!

So go out and buy your copy right now!!

Yet one searing kiss between the stacks gives Tessa a glimpse of the passion smoldering beneath–and a secret pain further revealed when Royal fills in as the musician at a tasting event. Every note of Spanish guitar tells a story of family tragedy, loss, and ongoing suffering that’s made Royal afraid to lean on anyone…even if he needs Tessa’s sweet flavor more than the richest wine. Emotional | Not What I Expected | Great Characters

My Rating:

4 stars

I was not expecting what I got out of this book.  The characters are fantastic and the story is just WOW!  I read this book in basically an afternoon/evening…  I was invested in these characters – all of them.  I really liked the value of family in this book and interaction of all the family members throughout the book.  My favorite has to be Blake and Tessa – OMG I was laughing out loud several times!  I loved them together!
I was right there with Tessa the WHOLE TIME – confused, pissed, loving him, then hating him… I was completely engrossed with her.  I love the description of her hair. Now I’ll admit – I apparently have a thing for red haired heroines lately – but Tessa was GREAT regardless of that fact!    She is independent and smart and responsible.  She’s such a hard worker and thinks so much, at times I just wanted her to shut it off and enjoy life, but without the inner monologue it really wouldn’t have been Tessa… so it really worked.
I loved that Royal was artsy and practical… emotional and so closed off.  He frustrated the hell out of me, but when he let loose – WOW – he was amazing.
The flow of this book was really nice and I didn’t ever get lost.  I really liked the pace and the writing style.  Everything really seemed to work well together and it all worked awesome for me.

I recommend this book to Adult Contemporary Romance Lovers. =)

Go forth and enjoy my fellow readers!

I purchased this eBook from

Musician | 2nd Chance Romance | Tattooed Alpha Male | Defiant Female Lead | Steamy

My Rating:

5 stars

Ok I admit – I bought this book based on loving the cover and being intrigued by the description.  I had not heard anything about this book or this author.

Don’t judge me… it’s a romance about a musician and the dude on the cover has a sleeve!  You can’t blame me… SERIOUSLY – you know my weakness for tats!

Anyway – let me just say – I am so happy that I bought this book!  I absolutely LOVED this book!!  I love books about musicians and… well Luke is amazing!  The way Emily describes him just made me fall in love with him and once the layers were pulled back and shown – let me just say SWOON!

Seriously people!

I love how Sienna is with Luke – but just like Luke, I couldn't understand the flip she did with other people.  The back and forth between Luke and Si is fantastic!  I love the story of the two of them. And the courtroom scene describing the “Asshat” was fantastic!

I loved learning about Luke and Si’s past and why he remembers her…  I love seeing the transformation and learning that goes on inside Sienna’s head and why she does what she does.

I … well… I just really loved this book.  I will definitely be looking forward to Consumed, Book #2 in the Devoured Series!  The description of Consumed is listed to be revealed in November – one short month away!  YAY!!

So check out Devoured today – here are the links!
