Today I have a little something from Kelley Vitollo - she is the author to Lucky Break, which I read and LOVED! You need to check it out!!
Today I have a little guest post from Kelley and my review of Lucky Break.
Now.... Here's a little about this great book!
Description from goodreads:
She’ll gamble her heart on the best friend she left behind…
One lucky break is all struggling actress Sidney Williams needs. But when living the LA life becomes too much, she heads back to the small town of Shamrock Falls for the vacation she needs to get her life on track—and immediately runs into Kade Mitchell, her former best friend and the boy next door she’s always regretted leaving behind.
Kade, the new owner of Lucky’s—once the most popular bar in Shamrock Falls—is determined to bring the place back to its former glory, and seeing Sidney again is a distraction he doesn’t need. Sure, the chemistry between them is explosive, but Kade can’t let himself fall into a fling with his best friend—not when he knows she’s soon heading back to the glitter of Tinseltown.
Now, with the possibility of her first major acting role looming, Sidney must decide if her lucky break is in Hollywood or right where she left it — in Shamrock Falls.
5 Stars - Yep it's fantastic!!
I know right - it is as good as it sounds!! Really it is - I think Kade is one of my favorite male leads this year - possibly ever... He is WONDERFUL! Sexy, smart, honest, loyal, sweet, ... etc etc etc... I don't think it is necessary to continue on - I'm also drooling all over my keyboard, so I should probably stop with the description. LOL!
Speaking of Kade... here is a little guest post from Kelley called
I’ve spoken before about how some personality traits in Kade remind me of my husband. How some of the silly things he did in LUCKY BREAK, my husband has done. But the fact is, there is a lot more to Kade than just those little things that were inspired by my husband.
Kade had a hard, emotional childhood. On the one hand he grew up with this loving, wonderful mom. He lived in a town he loved, had a lot of friends—good friends, and those are all things we all want, but he also had to deal with an abusive father. Having to feel helpless against it.
That past was huge in constructing who Kade was. I really had to get inside his head and try to figure out how he would deal with that past. How it would affect not only who he was, but who he is today. In real life, our pasts have such a huge impact on who we are. Our experiences help mold the person we become—good and bad and that was very true for Kade.Because Kade saw suffering, he loved deeper. That was how he chose to deal with it. He wanted to care for those he loved and had a huge heart. There were some scenes from Kade that broke my heart. They were so very emotional, but others that were so fun too. I wanted to write a really GOOD guy when I wrote Kade and I hope readers will see that when they look at him.Who are some of your favorite tortured characters? Not just tortured characters though, but your favorites who deal with it in a positive way?
sigh..... here's what just happened to me reading this and thinking of Kade...
ok, back to my review - I love that this story is based on friends and their story together and apart! I love how Kelley ties everything together through their friendship and also explains so much in these little flashback scenes...
Kelley's writing flows really well - I had a few moments I had to reread what I had just read, but that might have been because it was late and I didn't want to stop reading to go to sleep like I should have...
Ummm let's see - what else can I tell you? I loved the reality of this book... this group of friends lost touch after high school, like most of us... but when they come back together it isn't all fairy magic and puppy dog tails - they fight, scream yell and work through what happened and work through the past to get to a good present and happy future.
Loved this part of the story - I loved seeing Sidney and Kade so emotional - Kade especially - I love how he knows and loves Sidney no matter what and always has. She does him as well, just has to make the journey to see it.
I can totally see this being a movie - it read just like one and I could totally see everything in my head as I read - It was GREAT!!!
Parting words... go get this book!
It's really good and I think everyone will enjoy it!!
don't forget to add it to your TBR on goodreads!
