What would it be like to live in a world where you are considered abnormal to those who are above the norm?

Jenna O’ Conner has been taught her whole life to hide from everyone. Never to let anyone to close enough to know that she would prefer a shotgun for her birthday over of a bouquet of roses. She’s been smothered by her over protective family so that no one learns what she truly is. Which is not human. Nor, is she considered the norm for the supernatural Other community that is benevolent enough to share this world with the humans.
In a desperate attempt to live her own life away from the small town she was raised in, Jenna obtains her dream job as the newest member on the Wilmington Police Department’s SWAT Team. What she didn't predict was that she would run into trouble her first day on the job, in the form of a deadly, mouthwatering man named Adam McPhee. Who is also not human, but more like a wolf walking around in human skin. He’s determined to figure out exactly what Jenna is, which unbeknownst to him, could very well put her life in danger. He’s also determined to have her all to himself.
As if that wasn’t enough for Jenna to deal with, bad news blows into town. A group of extremist Shifters who think humans are cattle and factions of Others worldwide should stay within their own species - never to intermingle. Chaos ensues. Jenna has to find a way to shut them down, but in the process of trying to do that, discovers things about herself that even she never thought was possible.

Who said the wolf was what you had to worry about?
Welcome to the real world.

#3) excerpt

Sometime later, Amy’s cold nose nudged Jenna awake. Slightly groggy from her nap, she blindly shoved herself bodily to four paws and went to follow the gray colored wolf as she lead the way back towards the cabin. The trees started to become familiar shortly before they trotted back to where they had left their clothes piled on the ground. The only problem was, their clothes were no longer there. Amy shifted back to her human form, while Jenna circled the area looking for her things.

In a frustrated huff, Amy yelled, “Clay! Damn you, bring us back our clothes! This is not funny!”

Booming laughter came from somewhere in the house as Amy started muttering curses. Pushing her hair out of her face in clear frustration, she turned to look back at Jenna’s pitch black wolf form, “Come on, Jenna. You can shift back in the house once we get to my room. I’ll find what Clay did with your clothes and bring them to you. He’s a damn annoying prankster. You’d think after pulling off the same joke since we were teenagers he’d be over it already.”

Amy stomped across the yard to the back of the house giving small frustrated whines as Jenna padded along behind her aggravated companion up the stairs and through the back door. Once inside the open and airy home, they found their clothes dumped unceremoniously in the middle of the living room floor. She picked hers up with her mouth as Amy pointed out the small bathroom that she could change in, off of the living room and near the front door. Amy was already halfway dressed and told Jenna that she would grab some fresh bandages by the time she reached the door.

Entering the small half bathroom that held only a sink and a toilet, Jenna nudged the door closed with her nose. Shifting back, she used the hand towel hanging next to the sink to quickly clean herself off so that she was at least a little presentable to the rest of the world. Feeling a fresher, she bent over to pull her clothes on only to stop short when she realized her shirt was missing. Shit. It must still be in the living room. Cracking the door, she called out Amy’s name. After waiting a minute and getting no response, she stuck her head out the door and looked around.

There, still in the middle of the floor, was her charcoal grey tank top. She looked down at her half-dressed self in a black lace bra and jeans, then back to the tank top in the middle of the floor. Taking another quick peek around, she made the decision to scoot out quickly and grab the top. What were the chances of anyone seeing her anyhow?

She really should have recalculated those chances.

#5) author info & links

Jessie Lane is the writing team of Melissa Pahl and Crystal Leo. The two sister-in-laws share a passionate love of naughty romance, cliff hanging suspense, and out-of-this-world characters that demand your attention, or threaten to slap you around until you do pay attention to them. Because really, it is ALL about the characters. (They're kind of megalomaniacs - but don't tell them that we said that.)

Crystal and Melissa often live half their lives with their heads in the clouds dreaming of alpha military hunks, werewolves and kick ass heroines crazy enough to chase after creatures that they unquestionably should know better than to chase.

Their first YA novel, The Burning Star, was released in May 2012. Big Bad Bite is their second novel, but their first adult paranormal romance. They are now working on their next two novels, Walk On The Striped Side and Secret Maneuvers. With these projects underway, they are looking forward to showing the rest of the world their crazy stories, heroes and heroines that often plague their minds until written, and hope you will join them on their journey!

Snow White Sorrow

by Cameron Jace

Expected publication:
February 2013 by Akmal Eldin Farouk Ali Shebl

Sixteen year old Loki Blackstar is no Prince Charming. His mother is a ghost. His only friend is a red Cadillac that talks to him through the radio. He looks like an Angel but acts like jerk. No wonder he has been banned from Heaven, which is the least of his troubles. Loki needs a job to pay for school and support himself.

Still, Loki has a rare gift: He is a Dreamhunter. One of the few in the world who can hunt and kill immortal demons in their dreams so they never wake up again.

When Loki is sent to kill a sixteen-year-old vampire girl the locals call Snow White Sorrow, he is pulled into a magical but dangerous world. The locals believe the monster to be Snow White.

The real Snow White… living in the ruins of an ancient castle in a small town. She is described as horribly beautiful, terrifyingly enchanting, and wickedly lovely.

What he finds instead is a beautiful monster girl filled with rage and hurt, who has an epic untold story to tell of things such like why the Brothers Grimm altered the fairy tale, who the Evil Queen really is, where the mirror came from, and who possessed it.

Snow White has killed every person who has dared come near the castle where she once lived with the queen. Mysteriously, she lets Loki live, and whispers two words in his ears; two words that will change his life forever.

Author Bio:

Cameron Jace: Wonderlander, Neverlander, Unicorn-chaser, enchanter, musician, survived a coma, & totally awesome. Sometimes I tell stories. Always luv the little monsters

I write young adult paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and science fiction mostly. The Grimm Diaries series is a seven book saga that deals with retellings of fairy tales from a young adult POV – it connects most of the fairy tales together and claims to be the truth about fairy tales.

I live in San Fransisco and seriously think circles are way cooler than triangles.

Real Men Don't Break Hearts
By Coleen Kwan

Everybody’s treating Ally as though she’s still heartbroken. She’s just fine, thank you very much, but could The Jilter have the decency not to hire her sister as his florist?
Nate Hardy is tired of his high-flying city career and bachelor lifestyle and is looking for something more real. The last thing he needs is to find himself undeniably attracted to Ally, the woman with whom he never saw eye-to-eye. But is he even capable of what Ally wants and deserves?
As Ally tries to pull her life out of the rut it’s fallen in, she doesn't count on Nate stirring up her emotions. A short-term fling with the resident bad boy is practically irresistible, but only if she can guard her heart…

Review in Detail:

This was a really cute and sweet story. I really liked Nate and Ally's interaction with each other. I have to admit Ally was a little whiny & some what closed off in the beginning but as the story progressed she began to make sense.  I really began to like the characters and the story about halfway through... Ally began to develop a little backbone and decided to make her own decisions & Nate well he just grew on me.  I loved the night of the wine-o, LOL!!  That one made me chuckle - I think it will you as well.  That is the point I really began to like the story and give a damn about the characters.  This is your standard we have a history together but there's something there story.  However Coleen manages to put her own spin on the tail.  I don't know exactly what it is that makes it different in my head, but there's something there ... I think it is the past that Ally reveals and the issues Nate has with his brother and his own past.  Really the thing that ties all the characters together is their combined and entwined pasts...  I love a love-hate but you're hot and I'm sexy story... LMAO - that doesn't really make sense but I think you all know what I'm trying to say - right?!  These kind of stories are really my favorites - I love seeing the characters grow up and out of their funks - get outside their heads.  And in this story specifically, I love how Ally decides to live for herself and make her own decisions... screw everyone else's opinions (kind of).

Anyhoo... I feel like I'm rambling, so I'm going to call it - I hope you check out this book - it's really a deal at only $2.99!

Review | Nobody's Damsel by Emily Mah Tippetts

Today's review is for Nobody's Damsel by Emily Mah Tippetts.

This book is the sequel to Someone Else's Fairy Tale, which I really enjoyed, check out my review of it here over at @PBookDivas.

Chloe has finished her masters degree and taken a job as a forensic scientist back in her home town of Albuquerque, New Mexico, only the press will not leave her alone. They follow her to crime scenes and report on her every move, eager to show that her marriage to Hollywood A-lister, Jason Vanderholt, is on the brink of collapse. Millions of fans who dream of their own celebrity romance with him want this more than anything. This scrutiny comes at a particularly bad time as Chloe's first case is a crime against a child roughly the same age that Chloe was when she survived a homicide attempt.

Now that she sees the case from an adult's perspective, she realizes it's much harder than she ever dreamed. It's even worse for Jason, who is two steps removed from the crime. He must watch and try to support his wife as she battles with past demons and tries to keep up with a nameless suspect who evades identification and capture. Never has Jason been more frustrated with his job, its frivolities, and its lack of connection to the real world. When he storms off the set of his latest movie, the press goes wild with conjecture. While he says he wants to work on a project that means something, his agent and manager fear this may be the end of his time in the spotlight. Perhaps he never was anything more than a pretty face after all.

Together, Chloe and Jason must find their way past all the popping flashbulbs and through the dark maze of the criminal investigation to discover whether they can balance their professional goals with the demands of a celebrity marriage. The odds are entirely against them.

Review in Detail:

Now... I really really liked the first book in this series & wasn't sure what to expect in this second book.  I'm torn a little because while I didn't enjoy this story as much as the first (Someone Else's Fairy Tale), I completely love that the author shows us the real life of Chloe & Jason.  This story shows all the shit that happens to them day to day and how they work through it...  So with that said - I really really liked that Emily, the author, chose to show what happens after the "ever after" to Chloe and Jason.  Is it pretty ... not really, but life isn't pretty.  I loved that aspect in this book - the truth that sneaks in there and bites you in the ass when you are like me and want sunshine and rose and all the shit but don't really expect it to happen in real life.  I really did like the truth that was shown in this book.  This married couple is just like every other married couple in the world - they fight, they disagree, they don't know how to talk to each other all the time & they have to figure shit out on their own and make decisions for themselves.  I really really liked how this story is centered around Chloe and her new career.  I could not for the life of me figure out what what going on at the beginning of the chapters - read it and you'll know what I'm talking about - but soon I figured it out... not going to lie I was like 3/4 of the way through the book... but I got there!  And once I got there - I knew what was going to happen - don't know if that's because I was so far into the book or what, but I'm betting that's why, my kittens...  The end of this book - I LOVED!  Completely LOVED!!

So let's see...  I already really liked these characters and while I don't usually like truth and reality in my reading, since really reading is like mini vacation for me, I really did like reading this book.  I think you should check it out =) but read the 1st book first - you'll like it better that way & stuff will make more sense!!
