Sentinel Tour ~ Half-Blood Day | Jennifer L. Armentrout's Covenant Series

Half-Blood

by Jennifer L. Armentrout

description

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals--well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Holy Shit I love Aiden!

I love him... that is all! If you have read Half-Blood you have to read this POV scene! It is AMAZING and will make you love him even more!

Merged review:

AH-MAZ-ING! I absolutely love this series!!

Alex - wow - great character! Aiden - sigh and swoon - <3 - so strong and caring... Alex and Aiden together... HOLY HOT SHIT!

I love Alex's attitude. How she uses her actions to speak in situations and how her bravery comes out and shows itself ... along with her stupidity ... you know just like everyone else in the world - we all have our moments ;)

The world JLA created in this book is one of my favorites - anything can and does happen here. The rules Aiden and Alex have to abide by SUCK, but that's how it is... The story of this book is a roller coaster you will not want to get off of ever!

This is my favorite series and JLA is a truly spectacular writer!

So... would I recommend this book - HELL YES :D

# 1 New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Jennifer L. Armentrout Lives in West Virginia.

All the rumors you heard about her state aren’t true.

Well, mostly. When she's not hard at work writing, she spends her time, reading, working out, watching zombie movies, and pretending to write.

She is the author of the Covenant Series (Spencer Hill Press), the Lux Series (Entangled Teen), Don't Look Back (Disney/Hyperion) and a yet untitled novel (Disney/Hyperion), and new YA paranormal series with Harlequin Teen.

Jennifer also writes New Adult and Adult romance under the pen name J. Lynn. The Gamble Brothers Series (Tempting the Best Man/Tempting the Player) and Wait for You. Under her pen name, she is published with Entangled Brazen and HarperCollins.

mini interview from JLA for Half-Blood

For JLA – Half-Blood was your first published book.  Does it hold a special place for you or do you wish you could have a chance to re-write it?

Half-Blood definitely holds a special place for me, and I wouldn’t want to re-write it.  I’m happy with the book.

For Leon – You defended Alex and advocated for her to stay and be trained.  If you’d know she was gonna be such a pain in your ass, would have do that again.  Why?

Oh yeah, Alex needed to be trained, but I would have advocated for an attitude adjustment along with the training.

For Aiden – That day that Alex meets Seth for the first time, did you notice anything then that could have warned you of what was to come?

Everything about him warned me.

For Seth – Did you know that Alex was not impressed with your name when she met you?  She thought you should have a more Greek name like Apollo or something.  Turn around is fair play.  Your thoughts on her name?

She’s named after a boy.

excerpt

“Are you okay?” He asked, his face etched with concern, and she just nodded again, not trusting her voice.  She didn’t want to cry in front of him, but it was looking inevitable.  “Come here,” Alex said, sitting down on the plush chair across from his desk and pulling Cate down into his lap.  She just sat there as he stroked her hair and planted a few soft kisses on her cheek, and after maybe thirty seconds she fell into a sound sleep.
Cate opened her eyes an hour later and watched Alex for a full minute before she realized where she was.  He was holding his arms out to the side, squinting his eyes to read something that looked like a manuscript.  As he finished each page he turned it agonizingly slowly, taking great pains not to wake her.  Cate hadn’t known quite what to expect when she began this spontaneous relationship of sorts with her professor, but this simple act of kindness and consideration certainly wasn’t it.  It made her think, against every other ounce of her good judgment, that this was actually a good idea.  The year had been incredibly hard, lonely, and confusing, and if she could find someone who cared enough about her to sacrifice his own comfort and productivity just so she could get a few minutes of sleep, why in the world would she let that person go?
“Hi,” she said softly and he turned his head to look at her.  They both smiled.  Cate wrapped one arm around his neck and pulled his face to hers, kissing him passionately once they met.  Alex was clearly surprised by her aggression, but pleasantly so.  He tossed his manuscript onto the floor and put both of his hands at her waist, pulling her towards him in a much different position than the childlike one she’d slept in.  Now she was straddling him, her knees pressed against the back of the cushioned chair as they kissed fervently.  Cate felt like he was consuming her and she liked it.  She wanted to disappear into Alex, away from her own mixed feelings and constant confusion.
Cate stood up abruptly to shimmy out of her jeans.  Alex took the hint and did the same thing, and then they rearranged themselves on the chair in the exact same position as before.  Alex had already entered her when he pulled her sweater and bra over her head in one motion, bending her backwards so that he could reach his lips to her breasts.
A quiet moan escaped from her lips.  Alex moved his hands down to her hips, using his strength to push her entire body back and forth against him so that he went deeper and deeper inside.  Cate kissed him as she ground her body against his, loving the way his hard body felt against her soft skin.  Alex grabbed onto her hair as they rocked together in perfect unison.

oooooooooooooooooooook!  As you know I love a story about a rock star and a bad boy and a troubled girl... well this book's complexity and great story line is really good.  I was caught off guard by the intensity of emotion that was shown throughout this book.  The characters are well written and truly genuine.  I felt concerned about Beryl from the very start of her move.  I was connected with her story from the beginning.  I mean I think everyone will connect with her - everyone feels stuck - which is what makes her so real I think.  I loved the undercurrents through this book... the drama and confusion, well I loved it!  I loved how Beryl and Gavin connected via words - emails and chats.  I was great!  I also loved learning about Gavin along with B.  I was really fun seeing her through his eyes and when he came back to NYC - It was great.  I loved the story line and arc.  It was fun and dramatic and just wow.

I think everyone will really like this story.  I can't wait to read book 2 about Stella and Tyler.

anyway - enter to win the giveaway below and pick up your copy of B and Gavin's story.
