About BETTER WHEN HE’S BAD:

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover returns with a heart-stopping new series… Welcome to the Point.

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, awakening feelings she never thought she’d have for a guy like him. But it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize . . . some boys are just better when they’re bad.

Welcome to the Point

EXCERPT:

I let out the breath I was holding and took another step closer to her. The water was splashing on the sleeve of my shirt as I reached up to grab both of her cheeks in my palms. “Are you scared of me?”

It was the start of the questions I had asked her what felt like a lifetime ago. Her answer didn’t change, but this time when she answered, she was holding back a smile that made my heart hurt.

“Terrified, but I kind of like it now.”

“Do you trust me?” My voice broke. I had never really trusted anyone but Race and now there was her and my brother and just all kinds of new things making my life so much more complicated and undeniably fuller.

“With my life. I trust all the parts of you, Bax. You need to know that.”

“You going to go to bed with me?” That made her outright laugh and she reached up to curl her hands around my wrists.

“As often as I can and anyplace in between when the mood strikes.” The rest of the blood racing around my system went solidly south.

I dropped my forehead so it was resting on hers and the water from the showerhead was cascading down around us. I was making a mess, but I didn’t care because I had her, and she was my home. “Do you love me?”

The words sounded so foreign, but so right, when I was saying them to her. She brushed her full lips across mine and the last three months without her faded away.

“Do you want me to lie to you or tell you the truth?”

I smiled against her mouth and kissed her back twice as hard as she had kissed me. “Lie to me.”

She reached up and put her arms around my neck and took a step back, dragging me all the way into the shower stall with her. The water was lukewarm at best, and it made me shiver. So did the fact that she started to impatiently pull the tail of my shirt up over my head. A task made increasingly difficult considering I was now soaked head to toe and the material was clinging to me.

“Of course not. You’re the last person in the world I could love.”

You know I love Jay Crownover - well... check this shit out & get your copy ordered!

So you’ve met Rule, Jet, Rome, and soon Nash! But there’s a new boy in town, along with a new series, by Jay Crownover. Better When He’s Bad (Welcome to the Point #1) is a new adult novel scheduled for publication on June 17, 2014, by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing.

This is how Jay describes her new novel/series:
“It’s dark and dangerous and set in a fictitious underworld/bad part of town. The men in all of the books are way more along the line of being anti-heros than true leading men. I guess the easiest way to sum them up is by saying the books are all about the choices these characters have to make and the outcomes and results of those decisions. Bax’s book is all about having to make the hard choices and what becomes of him and his lady in doing so. They are super fun, very atmospheric and I think really what writing a bad boy should be like if you’re going to do it :)”
Look in the back of Nash’s book to find the first chapter of “Better When He’s Bad.”

About the Author

I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.

I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.

The journey continues:
Kay had discovered secrets, lies, shocking truths, and even love in a strange new world hidden from humans. Everything she thought she knew was turned upside down when she found out three things:

- She wasn’t human.
- She has a power she can't control.
- And there was a possibility that she had found a way to cure the cancer that was rapidly killing her with that very same power.

Then, just when she was on the precipice of gaining everything she wanted and saving her own life, tragedy struck. Will she be able to fight her way back to Ryan and save herself in the process?

Kira had lived a terrifying and confusing life of servitude and abuse under Lord Donovan and his son, Cole. It was an existence that had stripped away her emotions, and eventually, her reason to keep fighting. Just when she thought freedom was within reach, Lord Donovan struck again, ruining her plans and almost killing her in the process. When she awoke from her injuries, it was to stunning revelations that would change her life forever. Changes that she was not entirely sure she wanted to embrace.

Persistent individuals such as Prince Kane refuse to let her walk away, though. Will she embrace all of the sudden fortune in her life? Or will she walk away from those who need her most, forsaking their acceptance and love?

Kira’s POV:
"It means that you belong to me," he whispered back against my lips.
Suddenly, I was scared that Kane would only want to own me as a piece of property, as Lord Donovan once had gushed over me.
I tried to push him away from me, but Kane tightened his grip, refusing to let me go before he continued to speak, "But it also means that you own me, Kira."
At those unbelievable words, I stopped struggling immediately. Own him? No one could ever own Kane; the thought was preposterous. The look on my face must have conveyed that very thought because he laughed at the sight.
"You really have no idea of the power you hold over me, or how much I care for and desire you, do you?"
Shaking my head, I repeated my earlier plea to him, "Tell me."
That wicked grin of his returned as he pulled me flush against his body and dipped his face towards mine again. "I'd rather show you."

Perfectly Broken by Prescott Lane

Perfectly Broken

by Prescott Lane

Description:

Even after years of trauma therapy, Peyton still believes she’s broken. She has little desire to date or show off her natural beauty, content simply to hang out with her best friends and run her pie shop in New Orleans. But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up. While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them. With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own -- a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors she’s endured. But if they can find a way to trust each other, and themselves, they just might be able to heal, to save each other, to live perfectly broken together.

Rating & Review:

Yep 4.5 Stars - It was good!  I enjoyed both the story and the characters.  The author's writing is good.  I'll be honest and tell you I had some trouble with parts of the story flowing for me, but overall this was a good story with good writing.

So you might be thinking you already know this story based on the description... you'd be wrong.  I have read a lot of books and while yes this has a story arc we have seen before the way this is told takes it to a new level.  This author takes the reader on a journey of discovery and emotions through her main character Peyton.  I really loved Reed, and while I usually fall in love with the male leads, he is emotional and dark and seems real.  I really really enjoyed these characters.

I feel that most of you will enjoy it as well if you give it a chance and give it a read!

Be sure to enter my giveaway below to win one of two copies of Perfectly Broken!!

Excerpt

Padding over, he opened it to find Val, face scrubbed free of makeup and a towel on her head, smiling at him.
“Oh, sorry.”
From the devilish glint in her eye, he had a feeling she’d meant to catch him by surprise. “It’s okay. I was just getting dressed for dinner.”
“Oh, good. I actually wanted to apologize for acting like a bitch. Again. I could have handled the questions better,” she said, sighing deeply. “The truth is, I came down here because my father threatened to disinherit my little sister if I didn’t.”
“Did she deserve it?” Justin asked, contemplating what he’d do if he had a daughter like Ellie. If his daughter was acting out and running wild, he’d probably lock her up.
“Probably, but she’s my sister, and I keep hoping she’ll get her shit together,” Val said, leaning against the door frame. “I also wanted to say that if I had known you’d come by to see me, I would have called or written in a heartbeat. But he never told me you came by, and since you didn’t call, I figured it was just a night of fun.”
What was she doing? Why was she suddenly being so open?
“And I think that was it. I already told you how I didn’t love my ex-husband, so I think we’re good. Air’s all cleared. Cards on the table,” she said.
